First meeting in Brussels as ANSB member

 

On the 4th of May the first meeting of the newly elected Air Navigation Service Board (ANSB) of EUROCONTROL took place and was also attended by Saulius Batavičius, Chief Executive Officer of Oro Navigacija.

Last December Oro Navigacija submitted the candidacy for ANSB members for the first time and this February Chief Executive Officer of Oro Navigacija was elected the main member of this board for the term of two years.

The candidacy was submitted together with Romanian air navigation service provider Romatsa, the representative of which, Mr Valentin Cimpuieru, became an alternate ANSB member.

The meeting was focused on enhancing cooperation with member states at both civil and military level, discussions were held on the matters pertaining to strategic vision of EUROCONTROL (Eurocontrol 2030), also budgeting principles, assistance to Ukrainian and Moldovan air navigation service providers as well as other fields of activity.

“During the meeting I emphasized the need for more personalised attitude of EUROCONTROL towards separate regions of the Network and better management of certain strategic initiatives. For example, our experience shows that the established Solidarity Fund to support the Baltic States and Poland impacted by the war in Ukraine does not operate as efficiently as it was expected, therefore, closer and more interactive communication with EUROCONTROL member states and improvement of planning mechanisms is necessary”, – claimed S. Batavičius.

The aim of ANSB is to enhance the involvement of air navigation service providers (ANSP) in EUROCONTROL decision making, coordinating operation strategy, programs, budgeting at various levels, taking into consideration the obligations of member states. The same principles were also followed by Saulius Batavičius Chief Executive Officer of Oro Navigacija, representing the interests of the company at this meeting and while making significant decisions.
