S 08. MILITARY EXERCISE “BALTOPS 2026”

Replaces SUP: NIL

1 General

For the period from 4 to 19 June 2026 military forces will use temporary Danger areas for exercises in the Vilnius FIR/UIR of the Republic of Lithuania.

In addition, military activity will be conducted in airspaces published in AIP ENR 5.1 and 5.2 of Lithuania AIP.

Restrictions apply to non-participating traffic.

All times are in UTC.

2 Activity areas

2.1 Temporary Danger Areas

Exercise areas are plannable H24 unless otherwise specified.

Flight plan buffer zones (FBZ) are established for temporary danger areas.

Planned use of the temporary danger areas is specified in remark column and item 4.

2.2 Existing areas

The military training/exercise will also be conducted in the following existing areas as published in Lithuania AIP ENR 5.1 and ENR 5.2:

3 Restrictions

FUA restrictions published for these temporary areas:

4 Airspace activation schedule

Information on the airspace activation will be published by AUP/UUP/NOTAM day prior to execution of the military exercise.

5 Management of the areas

These temporary zones and FUA restrictions are managed daily through AUP/UUP.

NOTAMs will be published upon activation of the zones as specified in Lithuanian AIP ENR 5.1.

6 Flight planning information for participating traffic

Participating flights to and from the training/exercise area will be conducted according to flight plans (FPLs) and will have the remark BALTOPS26 in field 18.

Crews of aircraft conducting flights for the exercise shall avoid active reserved/restricted areas, which are not used for the exercise.

7 Flight planning information for non-participating traffic

During hours according to paragraph 4 (or) NOTAM, flight planning through exercise areas for non-participating traffic are prohibited or permitted according to the exceptions specified in paragraph 3. DCT, FRA and airspace closures will be announced via EAUP/EUUP. Appropriate restrictions will be applied during flight planning.

8 Communication/Notification

The Aircrews participating in military activity and executing flights in controlled airspace outside the exercise area shall maintain radio communication by VHF radio with the appropriate civil ATC unit, they are subject to GAT flight rules in accordance with SERA requirements.

The Aircrews participating in the exercise, executing the flights within activated exercise areas shall maintain radio communication with the appropriate military control unit.
