08-10-2011
Meetings of the Baltic FAB Operational/Technical Workgroup and the Baltic FAB Project Management Office (PMO) were taking place in Druskininkai on 6–7 October 2011. At a joint meeting of these working groups, members of the Baltic FAB Operational/Technical Workgroup were familiarized with the decisions by the FAB Strategic Committee taken on 20–21 September 2011. Also, the performance scheme, targets, expected results and implementation schedule for the Baltic FAB Operational/Technical Workgroup were being coordinated and revised in accordance with the Baltic FAB Strategic Committee’s ambitious decision to submit all information on the Baltic FAB to the European Commission by the end of 2011.
At the meeting of the Baltic FAB Operational/Technical Workgroup, the project on the concept of the Baltic FAB air navigation services provision was being further coordinated.
At the meetings of the Baltic FAB PMO, actions were being planned and activities coordinated to ensure that all information required by the European Commission is submitted in time. Also, following the decision of September 20–21 of the Baltic FAB Strategic Committee to carry out – until 1 December 2011 – a cost-effectiveness analysis of delegating air navigation services in the North-Eastern airspace of Poland to Lithuania (on the basis of which, if the assessment results are positive, Lithuania would start providing air traffic services in this airspace from 7 March 2013) – a working group made up of both countries’ representatives was formed. It will perform the assessment, and if evaluation is positive, will be responsible for implementation of the project.
