Traditional Autumn Meeting

As traditionally held every autumn, a meeting with the Lithuanian airspace users took place at a conference hall of the enterprise on 21 October. The users were represented by the airlines “Air Baltic”, “LOT Polish Airlines”, “Ryanair”, “Avion Express”, the Lithuanian Air Club and the aviation sport federations, the public institution “Pilotų mokykla”, and the Lithuanian Aircraft Owners’ and Pilots’ Association. The other side, or the air navigation service provider “Oro navigacija”, made all necessary arrangements for the meeting, which was also attended by Ms Agnė Katkutė, Deputy Director of Roads and Civil Aviation Department, Ministry of Transport and Communications, and some of the key personnel of the Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) and the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service (LHMS).

In his word of welcome Director General Algimantas Raščius reminded the audience of the recent challenges facing the whole aviation sector as well as the state enterprise “Oro navigacija”. Chief Specialist of the Air Navigation Service Section of CAA Romanas Petrovskis made a presentation on state supervision of air navigation service provision. Meteorological services to aviation were reviewed by Ms Dalia Taraškevičienė, Head of the Aeronautical Meteorology Section of LHMS.

A presentation on activities and perspectives of the enterprise was given by ATM Strategic Development Manager Vaidotas Kondroška. ATS Safety Manager Pavel Petrov reviewed the process of safety and quality assurance in the provision of ATS. And it was a report by Senior Economist Mindaugas Gustys on financial forecasts for air navigation charges for 2011 that attracted special attention and caused discussions.

The meeting lasted longer than planned and its attendants noted that such traditional gatherings are really very useful, they strengthen collaboration and mutual understanding.
